A n a lack of tradition it cannot lie that Peugeot is not exactly one of the top sellers of mid-range station wagons in Germany, because the history is full of models mostly called Break. The new Peugeot 508 is now called SW and, with its sloping roofline, belongs to the category of elegant, but not very spacious station wagons. Unlike the competitor Skoda Superb Combi - it is a cargo space giant. Over the years, the Czechs have found and refined an effective recipe that makes them one of the most successful importers in Germany: a lot of cars for comparatively little money. Peugeot gives the 508 an elegant appearance to justify the high price. It is a pleasure to stroke over the fine surfaces including high-quality switches and buttons. However, one sometimes gets the impression that the chic design, especially in the form of the massive B and D pillars, is at the expense of clarity. Parking sensors are therefore a mandatory cross for the optional equipment of the Peugeot 508 SW. Above panorama, walled in at the front From the Active line, the panorama roof is standard, which ensures a light-flooded interior and does not reduce headroom too much, at least at the rear. At the front, on the other hand, you feel walled in. The transport compartment is more spacious. As with the Skoda Superb Combi, the tailgate of the Peugeot 508 SW can be unlocked electrically and remotely and then swings open with a motor. From the cargo area you can fold the backrest of the back seat in a ratio of two thirds to one third, which creates an annoying step in the area. A maximum of around 1,600 liters of volume is then availableAvailable, which reads rather modest considering the Skoda value of 1,835 liters. In addition, not optimal: In the interior of the Peugeot 508 SW there are only a few really usable shelves. In both cases, the cargo space is properly lined with carpeting and equipped with folding hooks and tension net. In the Skoda Superb Combi, a stainless steel strip also protects the loading sill from being demolished when luggage is lifted in. Bulky objects can be secured with a rail lashing system or stowed behind additional compartments. Peugeot 508 SW - good insulation, less good suspension The Peugeot 508 SW protects its passengers by means of effective engine encapsulation crude diesel nailing and front window with insulating glass before the hissing wind. But when it comes to suspension comfort, he does not manage to treat it with a similar degree of care. Short paragraphs such as transverse joints on the highway or manhole covers in the city penetrate the 17-inch model with a rumble to the occupants. The Peugeot 508 SW looks stiff-legged, especially when unloaded. On the other hand, it successfully conceals long-travel bumps. In keeping with this rather worn-out nature, the two-liter diesel smoothly transmits its maximum 340 Newton meters of torque towards the front wheels after starting lethargy below 2,000 rpm. The 163 hp engine looks tight, but it runs in a cultivated manner and harmonizes well with the sensible, six-speed automatic transmission. The Skoda Superb Combi is quite different. It sends its torque of 350 Nm via an automated dual-clutch transmission with six gears, changes it quickly and smoothly and thus gives an extremely willing impression. In keeping with the powerful thrusting experience at low speeds, the Superb delivers better acceleration values than the Peugeot 508 SW, and brakes more emphatically if necessary. Peugeot 508 SW is more economical in consumption Even heavily loaded comes at full throttle no fatigue. However, this vigor is paid for by a slightly higher fuel consumption. In the test, the Skoda Superb Combi is three tenths of a liter of diesel per 100 kilometers above the value of the Peugeot 508 SW. But despite this penalty, which has an impact up to the cost chapter, the Skoda Superb Combi outstrips the Peugeot 508 SW in the overall ranking. The Skoda offers significantly higher suspension comfort, is at the same time more agile, has the more finely tuned driving dynamics control including more precise steering and more effective brakes, the more powerful, if less economical diesel engine - and space in XL format, both on the rear seats and in the trunk. And that should be one of the main reasons why you choose a mid-range station wagon. If you choose the Peugeot 508 SW, you buy it mainly because of its elegant shape or because the dealer has a cheap offer. An outstanding oneOn the other hand, there is no strength that could put it above the Skoda. In order to be among the best in its class, the Peugeot 508 SW does not offer any outstanding strengths. On the contrary: as a new design, it is somewhat disappointing. In order to be able to win in a comparison test against an all-round successful station wagon like a Skoda Superb Combi in the future, Peugeot still has to give it a lot of fine-tuning.做完功課兩台車優勢如下:. For a start, they are not even classified under the same segment, with the Škoda being a luxury car and the Peugeot representing large family car vehicle class. The first one has a Volkswagen-engineered powertrain under the hood, a 4-cylinder, 16-valves 218hp unit, while the other one gets its power and torque from a 4-cylinder, 16-valves 225hp engine designed by Peugeot. Safety The first thing to look into here would be the results from European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) tests performed on the two cars. Good thing is that both vehicles got tested, with the same number of safety stars gained in the process. Still, apart from the official crash test results there are other things we need to be aware of. The first vehicle is a luxury car and that gives it a marginal advantage over the large family car competitor, at least that's what statistics show. On the other hand, taking kerb weight as an important factor into account, the French car offers a marginal difference of 2% more metal. Reliability Manufacturers have been building their reliability reputation for decades now and, generally speaking, it appears that both brands display similar results in faults and breakdowns, all the models observed together. These are the official statistics, while our visitors describe reliability of Škoda, as well as Peugeot, with the same average rating of out of 5. Unfortunatelly, I don't have enough insight that would allow me to comment in more details on the specific models level. Above it all, drivers of cars with the same engine as the Czech car rank it on average as out of 5, exactly the same as the other one. Performance & Fuel economy Škoda is a bit more agile, reaching 100km/h in seconds less than its competitor. Still, it lacks the power to win the top speed competition, topping at 224 kilometers per hour, 16km/h less than the other car. When it comes to fuel economy things look pretty much the same for both cars, averaging around liters of fuel per 100 kilometers (182 mpg), in combined cycle. Verdict Škoda appears just a bit more reliable, although the difference is truly marginal. The most important thing when deciding between any two vehicles should always be safety, both passive and active. In this case though, it seems that both cars show similar levels of passenger protection all together, so that won't break a tie. But one thing that actually could is the performance, with Škoda offering somewhat better performance, just enough to call it quicker. To make things even better, it consumps less fuel! I believe that, when we take all into account, we have only one winner here - the Škoda. Nevertheless, let's not forget that people have different preferences and needs, so what really counts is your personal feel. I'm only here to help. The second vehicle is a luxury car and that gives it a marginal advantage over the large family car competitor, at least that's what statistics show. On the other hand, if we'd like to consider vehicle mass in this context too, which we definitely should, the French car offers a marginal difference of 2% more metal. Reliability I don't like generalizing things when it comes to reliability, although it does seem that both brands display similar results in faults and breakdowns, when all the models are taken into account. That's the official data, while our visitors describe reliability of Peugeot, as well as Škoda, with the same average rating of out of 5. Unfortunatelly, I don't have enough insight that would allow me to comment in more details on the specific models level. That apart, owners of different cars powered by the same engine as the French car rank it on average as out of 5, exactly the same as the other one. Performance & Fuel economy Peugeot is undoubtly more agile, reaching 100km/h in seconds less than its competitor. In addition to that it accelerates all the way to 246 kilometers per hour, 35km/h more than the other car. When it comes to fuel economy things look pretty much the same for both cars, averaging around liters of fuel per 100 kilometers (50 mpg), in combined cycle. In this case though, it seems that both cars show similar levels of passenger protection all together, so that won't break a tie. It does come at a cost though, and that's the fuel consumption... At the end, as much as I'd like to give you a winner here, it's simply a pure tie if you ask me. In any case that's my personal view, built upon all the data available to me. Considering they both belong to the large family car segment and utilize the same 5-door wagon body style and the front wheel drive system, it all comes up to the specific diesel engine choice they offer. The first one has a Peugeot-engineered powertrain under the hood, a 4-cylinder, 16-valves 130hp unit, while the other one gets its power and torque from a 4-cylinder, 16-valves 115hp engine designed by Volkswagen. Safety A starting point here would be to take a look at the results from European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) tests which were performed on both of the cars, with the same number of safety stars gained in the process. That aside, let's consider some other aspects which affect safety. Both vehicles belong to the large family car segment, which is generally a good thing safety-wise, but that fact doesn't break the tie between the two cars. Furthermore, taking kerb weight as an important factor into account, the French car offers a considerable difference of 14% more metal. Reliability I don't like generalizing things when it comes to reliability, although it does seem that both brands display similar results in faults and breakdowns, all the models observed together. These are the results of an independent reasearch, while our visitors describe reliability of Peugeot, as well as Škoda, with the same average rating of out of 5. Independent research findings rank 508 as average reliability-wise, and Octavia is more or less at the same should definitely mention that owners of cars with the same powertrain as the French car rank it on average as while the one under the competitor's bonnet gets out of 5. Performance & Fuel economy Peugeot is a bit more agile, reaching 100km/h in seconds less than its competitor. In addition to that it accelerates all the way to 208 kilometers per hour, 7km/h more than the other car. When it comes to fuel economy things look pretty much the same for both cars, averaging around 4 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers (72 mpg), in combined cycle. Verdict Škoda appears just a bit more reliable, although the difference is truly marginal. The most important thing when deciding between any two vehicles should always be safety, both passive and active. In my opinion, everything taken into account, the French car offers significantly better overall protection, taking the lead here. It all continues in the same direction, with Peugeot offering somewhat better performance, just enough to call it quicker. To make things even better, it consumps less fuel! It's not difficult to say then that if I'd need to make a choice, it would definitely be the Peugeot. Nevertheless, let's not forget that people have different preferences and needs, so what really counts is your personal feel. I'm only here to help. S množstvom inšpirácie z legendárneho úspešného modelu 504, napriek tomu módne nízky, široký a športovo namosúrený. Svojím francúzskym šarmom od vlaňajška vyzýva do boja najmä nemeckú konkurenciu. Nuž veru, kto by dokázal odolať takej avantgardnej a individuálnej ponuke? Všetci tí, ktorí to majú radi priamočiarejšie – rukolapnejšie. V Škode Superb kombi vidia perfektného partnera na každý deň (a to ho nenazývame ražným chlebom). Vo verzii iV má rodinný parník dokonca „zelený nádych“. Benzínovému motoru 1,4 TSI pomáha elektromotor. Celkovo toto duo ponúka výkon slušných 218 koní. Dvakrát dva motory – to sa podpíše pod vyššiu hmotnosť a tým aj pod spotrebu. Zdroj: Auto Bild Pre plug-in hybridného leva z Francúzska to nie je žiaden problém, vďaka výkonu 225 koní je rovnocenným partnerom. Krásny je tak či tak. However, the Skoda in standrd trim is far from a spec-for-spec rival to the Pug. To get the Czech to the same level, option boxes must be ticked – specifically, the box for the $6500 RS Premium Package.
